Multi-talented Vicki Lawrence is an actress, comedian, and singer known for the many characters she originated on The Carol Burnett Show, where she appeared for the entire series run. One such character, Thelma Harper/Mama, was the central character of the ever-popular television sitcom series Mama’s Family, which still can be seen daily in syndication throughout most of the country.
Lawrence has multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, and one Emmy Award win. She’s hosted a game show and a talk show. Lawrence also had a number one hit in the U.S. and Canada when she recorded “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” (which was later covered by Reba McEntire). Lawrence has done it all; approaching everything with her characteristic sense of humor, reminding us all that “Life is much too serious to be taken seriously!”
